A consensual decision-making that speaks in favor of the sense of friendship of the three permanent members of the group: Michael Stipe, Mike Mills and Peter Buck.

Through more than three hundred and fifty pages, R. E. M.: Closing the Circle provides a chronological review of his musical career, from his debut album Murmur (1983) to his latest album, Collapse into Now (2011), passing through albums of international scope such as Out of Time (1991) and Automatic for the People (1992). Likewise, this monograph covers the analysis of the projects conceived alone by each of the members of R. E. M., their links with the world of cinema and, in particular, one of the last chapters is dedicated to the influence of the band born in the state of Georgia at the dawn of the eighties in relation to groups such as Pavement, Nirvana or Radiohead in the musical panorama of the late 20th century, and groups that continue to operate today in the indie rock spectrum in different points of the world.
